Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarf

My lovely friends and I are fans of the idea Ann Brashers came up with in her series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.  A group of young women with nothing in common except their love for each other. Their circumstances are able to be conquered one novel at a time, yet they remain faithful and loyal to each other.

Though my college friends and I have not known each other our entire lives like the girls in the fantasy land of magic blue jeans and over the top internal monologues and very little sarcasm, we are sisters in The Lord, and that, to us, is that that matters. Now, we of course couldn't copy the true sisterhood (of fictional characters..) and snag a pair of blue jeans (mainly because that would be impossible, but we also couldn't steal their idea). Instead, we are the sisterhood of the traveling scarf! The five of us went shopping around Lincoln (trying to be as spontaneous as possible, while also having planned on exactly when we'd look for it all week). It was quite the adventure! We entered a lot of shops we'd never encountered before, further evidence of how sheltered we make ourselves living in the dorms two years in a row, but it was fun! We finally came across a store called "The Black Market." Which sounds darker, therefore way cooler than those other sisterhood chicks! Ha! But really, it looked eerily similar to the store in the movie where they found the pants! It was meant to be. It looked like another "wah wahhh" kind of moment that we'd run into at several previous stores, time was running out and our hearts began to feel a twinge of discouragement, but the scarf found its way to us. All of our eyes were drawn to this flashy, floral scarf, but it still didn't seem to be "the one." Close though, and we were kind of desperate, then, as fate would have it, Carlee spotted our silk destiny. The scarf! It was beautiful. Silk, Mediterranean-looking, patterned, and all of our colors all in one, so there was no style overpowering another (we all have VERY different styles).
We, of course, exploited our find by adding some extra-cheese on our cheesy moment of finding our long lost scarf by making each of us try it on (to insure that it fit our different body types-it did!). I loved every moment of it, and I love those girls.
We then proceeded to take a lot of cheesy photos with the scarf (individual shots as well as group photos) as well as make a list of 10 rules! We also bought journals to write our adventures on as we send the scarf along to make sure everyone is caught up on what everyone is doing while wearing the magical scarf. ALSO! I should add that as Carlee was buying coffee (while wearing the scarf of course) a woman looked at it and said with envy dripping from her lips and a grin spreading on her face, "Nice scarf! What a good find."
Win!
